About Robert

Robert Robinson is an independent artist creating hand-cut book sculptures from carefully selected books. Working directly into the pages, he cuts, layers and assembles images from within each volume to create intricate three-dimensional scenes, while preserving the book as both object and frame.

His subjects range from classic literature and fairy tales to history, sport and popular culture. Each work is made individually, allowing the character of the original book to shape the finished sculpture.

What began as an experiment developed into a distinctive artistic practice, with works collected internationally and shown at exhibitions and art fairs. Robert continues to explore how books can be transformed into sculptural objects without losing the stories and history they carry.
